This actual "relic" of the mother road, Route 66, is preserved just east of Flagstaff as a mysterious extension of a pull-off. It runs less than 100 yards. I happened upon it by chance and was delighted to see not only the majestic roof of Arizona in the distance but also a 100-year old roadside reflector. I'm entering this in the Route 66 Centennial Art Show next week.
