This plein air painting was at Cranberry Pond, a reservoir in Sunderland, MA. Two things captured my attention: 1) the ancient oak that has seen much and has the scars to prove it and 2) the dark woods behind--very much the foreboding forest of Nathaniel Hawthorne.
